I've lived in the Pennsylvania center region area all of my life. I was born in the Bellefonte hospital way back in 1960. I grew up as a child loving the sciences. I went from studying astronomy to geology, chemistry, meteorology, electronics and have finally found myself in computers. After high school I went to the Altoona campus of Penn State for my degree in electronic technology. I have learned computer technology on my own.
I work at the Pennsylvania State University in the Department of Kinesiology as a research technologist. I am the computer programmer, electronic technician, in-house statistician and do pretty much whatever else needs done with a research project. You can check out my Penn State web page to learn more about my job.
I love animals, especially cats. I now have one cat, Snuggles which you can check out in my pets section, along with the other cats I've had the fortune to know. I recently found a home for a stray cat which was in my area. He was left out for some reason, and had no front claws. He was wasting away to nothing, and I could tell he'd die soon if something wasn't done. He is now in a home for the elderly and watches over them. He was even on the news at one time.
I am a star trek fan but unfortunately there aren't any new shows on now, except Enterprise, which we don't get around here. The only sci-fi show I watch now is Andromeda. I was also watching Sheena, until they stopped carrying it this season. In other words, there just isn't much on tv to watch anymore, which is ok, since I then get more done!
A lot has happened since I last updated this page. I am talking about September 11. There is only one thing the terrorists who did and plotted this can be called, monsters. I am behind President Bush in that we need to wipe these people(the terrorists) off the face of the earth. We can not show any weakness or compassion toward these bastards. I would go so far as to blow up their holy places if they are housing troops or military equipment in them. As long as we don't start making concessions then I believe we will win this war. As far as rebuilding the country goes, which I'm sure we will do, I would only give the new government a little money and tell them what it will be spent on. Once the money is gone, we would check to see if it was spent as we asked. If it wasn't, then that would be the end of the aid.
Another thing I believe the government should be doing is really increasing the amount of money going into research on alternate energy resources. We have to decrease our reliance on oil as an energy source. At Penn State University, the buses now run on natural gas instead of regular gas. I used to hate being behind one of these busses when they would start moving, since they threw out all the black smoke. With the natural gas however, there is none of that. I believe the government should mandate that all universities use alternate energy for powering all vehicles for intra-university transport. In this way, different technologies could be tested to see which works best.
